by Pastor Jack Treiber;
In my lifetime, I have witnessed a huge change in our God-given institution of the family; the home has literally been redefined since I was a child. At one time, it was the biblical standard of a husband and wife, a father and mother. It is now a hodgepodge of perversion, difference, toleration, and compromise.
Tremendous change has also taken place nationally. Our Constitution is being watered down by liberal judges, pastors, politicians, and the people of this land.
We also experience this toleration and compromise within the walls of the New Testament local church. Spiritually, the church has silenced her voice and bought into the notion of casual, contemporary, compromising Christianity when, in reality, we should have men of courage in our pulpits taking a Biblical stand for righteousness and holiness.
The Scripture says,
- Romans 12:2—And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
- I John 2:15-17—Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
- II Corinthians 5:17—Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
True Bible salvation transforms the life of an individual. It is foolish then for our lives to mirror the world, the flesh, and the devil.
The church is God’s institution that steadies the home and the nation, but the church has become anemic. It is my prayer that we will, once again, recognize that Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD. Pastor and people alike should abandon this notion of being casual and cool instead of glorifying our God Who redeemed and purchased us. The Scripture says in I Corinthians 6:19, What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? As the church, our families, and this nation buy into this casualness, we are weakening the foundation of our greatest structures—the church, the home, and our government. It is my prayer that there will be a return to old-time religion and the old-fashioned way.
May I remind you that God is not changed and the Scriptures tell us in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. As our God has not changed, His Word has not changed. The Scripture says is in Psalm 11:3, If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do? Let us return to the faith of our fathers. Let us instill holiness, godliness, and righteousness into our lives, our homes, our churches, and our nation. The choice is up to us. Will we chose to be committed to the King of kings or will we choose to be causal and cool? I plead with you to make the right choice!
